Instructions for Use

Storage

Remove your Fiberreed from the mouthpiece after every playing session and dry it thoroughly. It is best stored in its original packaging or a reed guard. Do not leave your Fiberreed on the mouthpiece. Over prolonged use, the corners of the reed tip may warp or curl upward toward the mouthpiece, which alters the response. If this occurs, dry your Fiberreed carefully and gently—for instance, on a radiator or with a hair dryer, ensuring the temperature does not exceed 80°C (176°F). Afterward, your Fiberreed should return to its original shape.

Cleaning

You can clean your Fiberreed in a variety of ways. Dish soap or toothpaste are both suitable options. Disinfecting with alcohol or a non-toxic disinfectant is also possible and is particularly recommended if the reed has been used by other players.

After prolonged use…

…tiny chips may occasionally break off at the reed tip. This generally does not affect the tone or response. You can smooth out the tip again by gently sanding it at a right angle (similar to filing your fingernails) using 1000-grit sandpaper. Be sure to remove as little material as possible (a maximum of 0.5 mm), as taking off more will disrupt the reed’s balance and make it play too heavy.
