Aaron is CEO of Santee Saxophones, manufacturer of professional saxophones and accessories. An alumnus of Berklee College of Music, Santee has also written 3 instructional books and has been teaching saxophone for the last 25 years. Aaron has performed and/or recorded with a wide variety of groups in the contemporary jazz, straight-ahead jazz, funk, latin, blues, swing and big band genres.
The Fiberreed is an amazing concept! In my experience, the Natural Classic produced a sound somewhere in between a classical and jazz reed with a complex, full sound. The Carbon Classic retained the fullness and complexity of the Natural, but the addition of carbon fiber produced lots of additional edge and maybe a slightly more centered, slightly compact sound. I love the fact that you never need to soak them and that they’ll never warp like cane does! Especially convenient if you double on other instruments!
